Weekly Report #13
The final weekend in October saw members taking part in a variety of races on Sunday. We have four runners stay local and take on the 6 hour challenge in Penistone. This event is organised by See York Run York and runners complete as many laps as they want in the 6 hour time limit. 1 lap is just over 10K, 2 laps is half marathon, 4 laps gives you a marathon and anymore takes you into ultra territory. Cathy Steel and her daughter Kate Fewkes completed 1 lap for a 10K distance. Nick Boxall tapped out at 3 laps for 32K distance and Amy Hutchinson carried on for 4 laps to completed her first ever marathon distance.
Just down the road Nicola Heaton was our only representative at the 2nd fixture in this years cross country league at Longley Park. a tough 8K course for the ladies but at least the sun was out. We aim to get 4 ore more runners at the next fixture at Penistone in November. As club grows we are looking to do more team events. These are inclusive and open to anyone, of any ability. So if running through mud is your cup of team then come join us!
We also had 3 runners head down to Worksop for the popular Worksop Half Marathon, Charlotte Bailey, Rachel Vernon and Garry Harding all represented the club. Rachel continues to rack up the racing miles and leads the club long distance championship. This is an interclub competition where member try to rack up the most racing miles. Again its not about speed or times but taking part in events. The top 3 win trophies at the end of the year.
Saturday we 4 runners do parkrun. Andy Gosling ran with his wife at Hillsborough, Colin Mansell and Victoria Patterson ran Monsall Trail and James Oldham did Penistone.
